This session will walk through the very reasons why most athletes are becoming more and more disengaged with their dual-role as student-athlete. By making a clear connection from the student athletes’ value system to their identity, we can demonstrate how and why they can properly utilize their platform. The audience will gain an authentic and fresh insight on the student-athlete experience told from recent student-athletes as to why it seems that being a student and an athlete are becoming independent of each other rather than working in cohesion.
Michael founded WalkOn Nation to bridge the gap between student-athletes and the real world. He wants all athletes to be able to reach their maximum potential.
About Michael WIllett, CEO WalkOn Nation:
Michael is a former football student-athlete at the University of Central Florida. While being a part of the team he noticed that his teammates were not prepared for life outside of sports. From being a walk-on, to earning his scholarship, then to have a career ending injury he learned valuable skills and life lessons to shape him into the man that he is today.
About WalkOn Nation:
Being former student-athletes we saw and still see the huge void in holistic development of athletes across the country. Year after year we saw how unprepared our teammates and fellow student-athletes were entering AND leaving college. WalkOn Nation was created to redefine athletic identity to ultimately empower student-athletes to allow their platform to enhance them, not define them.
